World Rugby has confirmed the disciplinary decisions for Cloé Correa and Ambre Mwayembe of France, and Danelle Lochner of South Africa, following their red cards in the WXV Global Series.
Correa has been suspended for two matches. Mwayembe has been suspended for three matches, reduced to two on successful completion of the Coaching Intervention. Lochner’s case has been referred for a full disciplinary hearing.
Cloé Correa: two-match suspension
Correa received a permanent red card in France’s WXV Global Series match against Australia for a breach of Law 9.12 (contact with the eye area). She accepted that foul play had occurred and that the red card was warranted.
In determining the sanction, the Foul Player Review Committee (FPRC) found there was contact with the eye area but not direct eye contact. It also found the contact was not deliberate and had no effect on the victim player. The Committee therefore ruled that a low-end entry point was appropriate. Correa received the full 50 per cent mitigation, which produced a final proposed sanction of two matches.
The player has accepted the sanction and is suspended for the following matches:
26 September, 2026 – WXV Global Series 2026 – France v Canada
17 October, 2026 – WXV Global Series 2026 – New Zealand v France
Ambre Mwayembe: three-match suspension, reducible to two
Mwayembe received a red card in France’s WXV Global Series match against Australia for a breach of Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle). She accepted that foul play had occurred and that the red card was warranted.
The FPRC found that Mwayembe attempted a tackle in an upright position, which resulted in shoulder-to-head contact with the Australian player. The Committee ruled that the mandatory mid-range entry point was appropriate. Mwayembe received the full 50 per cent mitigation, which produced a final proposed sanction of three matches. That reduces to two on successful completion of the coaching intervention programme.
The player has accepted the sanction and is suspended for the following matches:
26 September, 2026 – WXV Global Series 2026 – France v Canada
17 October, 2026 – WXV Global Series 2026 – New Zealand v France
24 October, 2026 – WXV Global Series 2026 – New Zealand v France*
*The player may be available to play in this match subject to successful completion of the Coaching Intervention Programme.
Danelle Lochner: full hearing set
In respect of the red card issued to Lochner, the FPRC originally referred the matter for a full disciplinary hearing. The hearing will take place on Tuesday, 22 September.
